This is the page we're proudest of, because it's the one with the least room to hide behind nice language.
How we buy
We buy from established makers, small British workshops, and — where good stock would otherwise be wasted — from clearance and surplus channels. We pay the asking price rather than pushing suppliers to a number that makes their work unviable.
We do not manufacture the products we curate. Saying so plainly matters more to us than sounding like something we are not.
What we can and cannot verify
Where we buy directly from a maker, we can tell you who they are and how something was produced, and we will.
Where a piece reaches us through a wholesaler or a surplus channel, our knowledge stops at what the manufacturer states. In those cases we will not repeat claims we cannot stand behind — about testing, about ingredients, about origin. We would rather tell you less and have it be reliable.
If a claim matters to you before you buy, ask us. If we don't know, we will say so.
The people behind it
Petalby is a very small operation. Everything is chosen, checked and packed by hand, and every message you send is read by a person rather than a system.
As that changes, this page will change with it.
