Ethics & Responsibility

We buy from established makers, small British workshops, and — where good stock would otherwise be wasted — from clearance and surplus channels. We do not push a supplier to a number that makes their work unviable.

We make some of what we sell and choose the rest. What we make is made here, by hand and in small numbers; what we choose is made by someone else, and we say which is which rather than let one word cover both. Saying so plainly matters more to us than sounding like something we are not.

What we do not make ourselves, we buy from UK wholesale or from makers already selling in Great Britain — people who hold the safety assessments, the responsible-person duties and the notifications that selling their products lawfully requires.

Some of what we buy is fenced off, and the fences are worth stating. Skincare, cosmetics and bath pieces we do not make ourselves come only from UK wholesale and makers already selling on the GB market — never from an overseas dropship feed. Anything applied to skin that we did not make arrives that way or not at all.

We sell nothing you eat or drink, and nothing a pet eats either, because we do not hold the registrations that would make it lawful for us to. Toys come from UK-market stock with their age labelling and marking intact. We make no medicinal or therapeutic claim about anything, on any page, ever.

Where we buy directly from a maker, we can tell you who they are and how something was produced, and we will.

Where a piece reaches us through a wholesaler or a surplus channel, our knowledge stops at what the manufacturer states. In those cases we will not repeat claims we cannot stand behind — about testing, about ingredients, about origin. We would rather tell you less and have it be reliable.

The same rule governs how we write. Product copy is written here rather than lifted from a supplier, and we carry no reviews, ratings or customer counts, because we have none that are real. Silence is the honest option.

If a claim matters to you before you buy, ask us. If we don't know, we will say so.

Petalby is a very small operation. Everything is chosen, checked and packed by hand, and every message you send is read by a person rather than a system.
