Our fullest Curated Collection: pieces drawn from a range of categories across our shelves, with one piece reserved for this size alone. Composed in limited numbers, and unrevealed until it is opened.
The widest reach across our shelves, with one piece reserved for this size alone. The box for the occasions that warrant it.
The standard this box is held to
Every piece answers four questions before it earns its place: good of its kind, judged against the alternatives we set aside; something we would be glad to receive ourselves; sits well beside the others; never filler.
A composition that does not hold together is taken apart and made again. The Petalby Standard, in full.
- One pair of hands. Every collection is put together by one person and checked as a whole before it is packed.
- Never filler. Nothing goes in unless it earns its place. The Petalby Standard.
- No surprises at checkout. Free UK delivery on every order. 30 days to change your mind.
Our promise
What we promise before you order
A mystery Curated Collection is composed piece by piece by someone who has handled the alternatives and set most of them aside, and the finished box is looked over as one thing before it is packed. What you are buying is that judgement, and nothing is included to fill space.
If it arrives damaged, or something inside is not what it should be, tell us and we will replace it or refund it — whichever suits you better. Our Promise, written down.
The Petalby Standard
Four questions, asked of every piece
- Good of its kind. Not adequate — good, judged against the alternatives we set aside. A piece we made ourselves is held to it just as strictly.
- Something we would be glad to receive ourselves. If the answer is not an immediate yes, it does not make the cut.
- Sits well beside the others. A composition, not a container.
- Never filler. A smaller box of three good things over a fuller one padded with a fourth that doesn’t belong.
You will always receive pieces drawn from a range of categories across our shelves, chosen against each other for how well they sit together.
You will never receive novelty filler, duplicate pieces, or anything applied to skin that we did not make and that did not come from UK-market wholesale or a maker already selling in Great Britain.
What is inside a Bouquet
Everything the smaller sizes draw from, and one thing they never do.
Where The Bud takes the smallest composition and The Bloom draws from across our shelves, The Bouquet takes from the full breadth of those shelves. It is the size composed with nothing held back.
It also carries one piece reserved for this size alone — the one that would unbalance a smaller box, or that we hold back precisely because it should arrive in the fullest one. We do not say what it is. That is the point of it.
It changes how the box opens: unwrapping takes a few minutes rather than a moment. At this size the unwrapping is part of what is being bought.
The one we photographed
The Bouquet on this page is the fullest composition we send, and the photograph is the clearest answer to what the largest size is for — though even it does not show every piece a Bouquet carries.
- A kraft pouch of bath salt, unscented mineral salt with a spa-relax blend.
- An amber glass diffuser with rattan reeds and dried stems.
- Two candles rather than one — a botanical-topped soy candle with petals set into the wax, and a second in amber glass under a brushed gold lid.
- A lavender wheat bag, printed with lavender sprigs and roped at both ends, for the shoulders.
- A wide-tooth wooden comb, cut from a single piece.
- A bamboo-cased diffuser in its own box — the considered object, and the piece a smaller size would never carry.
- An exfoliating mitt and a rolled waffle cloth, jute-tied.
- A body lotion in a tall matte bottle.
Note what is not in it: nothing included because it filled a corner.
The standard a Bouquet is held to
The standard does not soften as the price rises. A Bouquet is composed on the same terms as the smallest box and checked as a whole before it is packed — pieces that have to look intended together, not pieces that happened to be available.
This is where the trust matters most. Spending £74 on something you cannot see is an act of faith in our judgement, and the only sound way to repay it is to compose every one as though it were being opened in front of us. How a composition is made, and why we buy the way we do.
Delivery is free on every order.
Limited numbers, said plainly
Bouquets are composed in limited numbers, and that follows from how we buy rather than from a sales technique. We buy in small quantities, so there is only ever as much of a given piece as there is. When a particular composition runs out, it is not repeated.
So there is no countdown on this page and there will not be one. If The Bouquet is available, it is available; when it is not, it will say so.
Who The Bouquet suits
- A milestone. A fortieth, a retirement, a wedding gift for people who have asked for nothing.
- A joint gift. Four people at £18.50 each is an easier conversation than four people trying to agree on what to buy.
- A thank-you that has to be a real thank-you — the friend who took the dog for a fortnight, the colleague who covered for you properly.
- Someone who has everything. The larger the box, the more this holds: you are not competing with what they already own, because they have not been asked to expect anything.
Where it is the wrong choice
At £74 the mystery format asks the most of you, so it is worth being blunt about when not to buy it. If the recipient is particular — a settled routine, a scent they will not move from, strong views about what they keep in the house — a large mystery box is a large risk, and one they may feel obliged to be gracious about.
For those people, the Spa Edit runs to the same prices and states exactly what is in every set. It is the less romantic answer and often the better gift.
What happens after you order
- The order. Stripe takes payment and a confirmation email follows once it has. Delivery is free on every order. We deliver to addresses in the UK, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
- The composing. One person puts your Curated Collection together by hand in the UK, and nothing is packed until the whole box has been looked at together.
- On its way. A second email arrives as soon as your order leaves us, with a tracking number if Royal Mail has issued one.
- The opening. Nothing is revealed until it is unwrapped. You have 30 days to change your mind, for any reason — see delivery and returns.
The three sizes
- The Bud — £22. The smallest composition.
- The Bloom — £42. Composed to sit together.
- The Bouquet — £74. The fullest composition, with one piece reserved for this size alone. You are here.
