What it is
A whale under a night sky — deep blues, a scatter of small pale stitches for the stars, and a shape that reads from across a room. The design is printed onto the cloth before it reaches you, so there is nothing to trace and the work is all in the filling.
Pre-printed 100% cotton, DMC stranded cotton, a needle and a seven-inch wooden hoop. An illustrated guide to embroidery and a colour chart are in the box, so no separate pattern has to be found and no thread matched by eye. The hoop is the frame: the finished piece hangs straight out of it, with nothing to mount or stretch afterwards.
It arrives gift-boxed and can be handed over as it is. Designed and packed by hand in a Dorset studio.
For someone who has been meaning to start embroidery and has not yet found the evening, or for a stitcher who would rather work a sky than a sampler.
