What it is
A fox built out of loose wool and a barbed needle, which is slower and more absorbing than it sounds — the fibres tangle, then hold, and the shape appears under your hands. British and merino wool, photographic instructions, nothing to stitch. About fifteen centimetres when it is done.
Two felting needles in a case, the wool, instructions and a gift box. The foam working block is a separate item and is the one thing to check for before you begin. Packed by hand in Dorset.
Ages fourteen and up because of the needles, or with an adult alongside.
Because the wool is added rather than cut away, a shape that has gone wrong is not lost — more fibre goes on and the fox comes back. That is the difference between a craft that punishes a first attempt and one that quietly absorbs it.
For someone who would rather make a thing than follow a pattern, and for a house that already has a fox on the fence and would like one on the shelf.
