Orders start at £20, so this one travels with company. Anything from £14 takes it past the line, or The Bud stands on its own.
What it is
Real seaweed worked into the bar, which gives it a faint grain in the shower and a scent somewhere between a rock pool and clean air. Nothing about it is floral, which is rarer than it should be in a bar of soap.
A 190 gram bar of pure vegetable oils and shea butter, so it stays soft on skin despite the texture. Paper-wrapped and boxed in nothing. Made on a farm in East Sussex by The English Soap Company.
The grain is faint rather than scrubby — enough to feel, not enough to make a fuss about. Kept on a dish that drains, a bar holds up better than one left sitting in water.
It reads as slightly masculine without being sold that way, which makes it one of the more useful bars we carry when we are composing for someone we know little about. Good for a swimmer, a walker, or anyone whose bathroom already smells of lavender and does not need more.
