What it is
A wooden tea service on a round tray: a teapot with a lid that lifts off, two cups and saucers, a milk jug, a teaspoon, a teabag and a cupcake. Birds painted on it, in the sort of muted colours you would not mind leaving out on a shelf.
Two cups means the game has a guest in it, which is most of the point of a tea set. The lid comes off the pot and goes back on again, and the teabag and the cupcake give the ceremony somewhere to go. It is a set for pouring, offering and being thanked.
Reclaimed rubberwood, non-toxic paint, twenty-four centimetres across the tray, from Tender Leaf Toys. The tray is part of the set rather than packaging, so the service has somewhere to sit between games and goes back on the shelf looking like one thing. For three years and over.
Given the choice, most people would rather be poured a cup from this than from the plastic alternative, and that includes the adults.
