What it is
A red wooden tractor with headlights that turn, and a trailer that pivots along behind it carrying two felt hay bales. Tip the hay out, load the animals in, drive the whole thing into the skirting board, and begin again.
The pivot is the part that earns its keep. A trailer that follows round a corner is being driven rather than dragged, and that is a difference a child notices without being able to say so. The headlights turn too, which is a small thing to find.
Twenty-nine centimetres nose to tail and one and three-quarter kilos, in FSC-certified wood, from Tidlo. That weight is why it stays where it is put rather than skidding off the table. The bales are felt, so they are soft in the hand.
For three years and over. Solid enough that it will comfortably outlast the child it was bought for, and probably the next one. For a child in the middle of a farm phase, or one who would rather push something than build it.
