What it is
A slipcast clay sphere, 90 millimetres across, hung on stainless wire. Fat balls, fruit or kitchen scraps go inside, and the opening is sized so tits, sparrows, nuthatches and finches can get at them while the pigeons and the squirrels give up. The selecting happens at the doorway rather than with a cage around it.
The form is smooth throughout, with nothing for feet or beaks to catch on, and it washes out under a tap. It comes with the wire and a tree protector. Designed and made in England.
For a small garden, a window that wants something to watch, or a first feeder for a household that has never hung one. It suits anyone tired of filling a feeder that mostly feeds pigeons. It is a shape you would choose for the kitchen shelf, which is not a thing often said of bird feeders.
