What it is

White raindrops printed on grey, until it actually rains. Then the hydrochromic ink finds the water and the pattern comes up in colour, and when it dries it goes back to grey again. This is not a one-time novelty: the trick works for as long as the umbrella does.

Aluminium shaft, fibreglass ribs, a pongee canopy. It folds down to 250 millimetres and weighs 296 grams, which makes it a bag umbrella rather than a hall-stand one. Nothing to charge and nothing to switch on, because this is chemistry rather than electronics.

Grey is the sensible choice for an umbrella, and the reason the change reads at all. There is nothing to notice until the weather does it for you, and then there is.

For the person who walks to the station in all weathers, and for anyone who has been given an umbrella before and left it in the cupboard. It is the one thing on this shelf that works better the worse the weather gets.

A small parcel tied with twine and a blank card on an oak table.

Our promise

Every piece here is chosen on its own merits by a person who has handled the alternatives and set most of them aside. Some of what we sell we make ourselves; the rest is made by other people and chosen by us, and we say which is which.

If it arrives damaged, faulty or not as described, we replace it or refund it, and we pay the return postage. Our Promise, written down.

Not sure this is the one? The Bloom is composed by hand around pieces like it, and the contents stay a secret until it is opened.

No reviews are shown on this page yet. Ours come only from verified orders and are published as written, from the first one we approve. How reviews work.
