What it is
A light bulb with no lamp to screw into. Over a hundred tiny LEDs are arranged to imitate the loop of an old incandescent filament, inside borosilicate glass with a machined aluminium cap. The whole thing is made a fraction too large to fit a mains fitting, which is deliberate rather than a fault.
An hour and a half on the micro-USB cable gives about six hours of light. Ninety-nine grams, so it travels well: it stands on a table, hangs from a hook, or goes into a lantern for a dinner outside. There is no flex to hide and no fitting to buy.
The filament is the whole design, and everything else stays out of its way.
For a corner of a room with no socket in it, and for the person who has been looking for a light to put on a table laid outside.
