What it is
A machined aluminium pencil that stands on the desk among the real ones, until you press the eraser and it becomes a small warm lamp. Press again and it goes back to being a pencil, more or less. Nothing about it announces itself as a gadget, which is rather the point.
Machined aluminium body, silicone tip, 83 millimetres tall and 153 grams — more weight than an object that size usually carries, and the reason it feels considered rather than novel. Rechargeable by USB-C, and the cable comes in the box.
It reads as a desk object first and a light second, with the eraser doing the work of a switch. From Suck UK.
For someone working at a desk with no room for a lamp, or a small flat where every object has to be worth its space. It is the sort of thing that gets picked up by a visitor, turned over, and put back in the pencil cup where it belongs.
