What it is
Over a hundred small LEDs laid along a filament that runs through the colours rather than settling on one. The glass is the same clear borosilicate as the plain version, and the cap the same machined aluminium. What changes is only the light.
Cordless throughout: an hour and a half on micro-USB for about six hours, and no fitting required. Sixty-five by 120 millimetres and 99 grams, made deliberately too large for a mains socket. There is no lamp to buy and no flex to hide.
Good on a windowsill, a bookshelf, or carried out to the garden and back. It is a bulb that goes where the evening is rather than where the wiring is. Unlit, it is indistinguishable from the plain version; the colour arrives only when you switch it on.
For a teenager's shelf, a garden table in August, or the person who already has the plain one and wants the colour as well.
