What it is
The same borosilicate bulb, with the filament bent into a five-pointed star instead of a loop. It gives the light of a candle rather than a lamp: enough to read a menu by, not enough to read a book. That is a limit worth knowing before it arrives, and it is also the point of it.
Cordless and USB rechargeable, an hour and a half of charge for roughly six hours of light. Sixty-five by 120 millimetres and 99 grams, sized so it cannot be screwed into a mains fitting by accident. No lamp, no flex, no socket needed.
It sits well on a shelf, a mantelpiece, or a table laid for supper. Unlit, it reads as an ordinary bulb until you look at the filament, which is the whole of the joke.
For the table where people are still sitting at eleven, and for anyone who likes candlelight and would rather not watch a flame.
