What it is

Stone that was once wood, cut into a shallow dish and polished across the top while the edges are left raw. The grain, the mineral colour and the exact outline belong to the piece rather than to a design, so no two are alike. Heavy enough to stay where it is put.

Petrified wood, handmade in India. The polished top is the working surface; the raw edge is the part that tells you what it used to be. Because the outline follows the stone, the piece that arrives will not be quite the piece in the photograph.

Polished stone wipes clean with a damp cloth, and a soap dish will want that now and again. It is heavy by nature, which is what keeps it from travelling around the basin, and worth a thought before it goes on a glass shelf.

For someone who has good soap and nowhere to put it, or a bathroom furnished mostly in white where one honest object would do the work of three. One object, and no duplicate of it anywhere.

Presentation

Every order is packed by hand. Just the items, simply wrapped is how it travels unless you say otherwise, and it costs nothing. A presentation level dresses it for giving — one for the whole order, chosen in your basket.
