What it is

Four shower steamers of fifty grams each, pressed in Sheffield from bicarbonate, citric acid and essential oils — lavender, lemon and clary sage — with a scatter of lavender seeds through each one. Set one on the shower floor, out of the direct stream, and let the water do the rest. The steam carries the oils up with it.

Ten minutes later the bathroom smells like somewhere calmer, which is a bath's mood on an evening that only stretches to a shower. Bicarbonate and citric acid are what make it fizz; the oils are what make it worth doing. Lavender, lemon and clary sage — two herbs and a citrus.

Four to a box, fifty grams each, and every steamer wrapped separately rather than loose. Vegan and SLS free. Out of the direct stream is the part of the instruction worth remembering.
