What it is
A herringbone wool blanket in deep navy, which is the colour most people reach for when they want a throw to disappear into a sofa rather than announce itself. The weave keeps it from going flat: navy herringbone reads almost charcoal in low light and blue in the morning.
Designed in Bristol, woven in England, from The British Blanket Company. Wool, unlined, and the sort of weight that makes a chair worth sitting in for the evening.
Unlined means one cloth and nothing sewn to the back of it — no backing to come away from the front over time. Wool is why it is worth the weight: it holds warmth without holding damp, and it breathes rather than sweating the way a synthetic throw does.
We stock four colourways of the Clifton Herringbone: this navy, a warm stone grey, a pale sandy Bath Stone and a soft greyed green. Navy is the one to choose when the room already has plenty going on, or when the blanket is going to a house you have not seen.
It disappears into the sofa, which is exactly what it was chosen for.
