What it is
A slim bulb in bronze-coated borosilicate glass, shaped after the candelabra lamps of the nineteen-seventies. A switch offers steady light or a flicker. The flicker is the better setting after dark; the steady one is more use when you are looking for your keys.
Cordless and USB rechargeable: an hour and a half on the cable for about six hours of light. 58 by 140 millimetres and 61 grams, which makes it the lightest of the cordless bulbs and the easiest to pack. Bronze-coated rather than clear, so it is something to look at switched off as well as on.
Nothing screws in and nothing plugs into the wall. It stands where it is put, a windowsill, a shelf, the far end of a table, and it moves with the evening rather than with the wiring.
For a dinner that runs late, and for the house that has more candles in it than candlesticks.
