What it is
The lead cut from the same two hides as the mint and tan collar, in vegetable-tanned leather, stitched and hand-finished in the same Staffordshire workshop. Mint over tan is an odd pairing written down and a good one in the hand.
Silver-toned rivets, a heavy trigger clasp at the dog end, and a D-ring at the handle. Vegetable-tanned leather is the sort that darkens with handling, so the lead you have in year two is not quite the one you unwrapped.
Leather leads are heavier than fabric ones and that is rather the point: the weight sits in the hand and the lead hangs straight instead of tangling. After a year of use it will be visibly yours.
For someone who already owns the collar, and for a dog whose owner is quietly particular about what they carry. The D-ring at the handle is the small practical detail — somewhere to clip a bag, a whistle or a second lead.
