What it is
The lead that goes with the Ensay collar, in the same Hebridean herringbone and the same deep red patterned cotton lining. Tweed softens with use, and this one is meant to be walked in rather than kept for best.
A metre long and twenty-two millimetres wide, which is the width that sits comfortably in a hand on a long walk. A metal trigger hook at the dog end, and a nylon core running the length of it inside the cloth. Handmade in Britain by the maker's own sewing team.
The Harris Tweed Authority label is stitched into the seam.
The red lining faces inward, so it is a detail for the person on the other end rather than for anyone passing. For the person who has the Ensay collar and wants the pair, and as a present for someone whose dog is already better dressed than they are. Cloth in the hand on a cold morning is a small thing, and it is not nothing.
