What it is
Pale green stripes on a creamy white ground — ticking, the cloth that usually ends up on a mattress or a deckchair, put to work as a dog collar instead. It is soft in the hand in a way webbing never is, and it looks like it belongs in a kitchen rather than a kennel.
Handmade in England from cotton, with a nylon core through the middle and metal buckle and eyelets. Twenty millimetres wide, sixteen in the extra small.
Cotton fades gently with washing, which we think improves it. The nylon is the part taking the strain; the cotton is the part you see and touch.
Pale green against a dark coat is the obvious pairing, though the colour is quiet enough to sit on anything. For someone buying the first collar for a new dog, or replacing one that has stopped being pleasant to handle. Measure the neck before choosing — the width steps down to sixteen millimetres in the extra small, and that size is made for a genuinely small dog.
