What it is
Two leathers, mint over tan, cut and stitched by hand in a Staffordshire workshop. The hide is Italian and vegetable-tanned, which is the slow way of doing it — no chrome, and a leather that darkens rather than cracks as it is worn.
Silver-toned rivets and decorative studs run along the length, with a heavy buckle and a D-ring for a lead. Sizes start at extra small, twenty-one centimetres round the neck on a strap a centimetre and a half wide, and run up through the larger dogs.
Studs on a collar are usually shouting about something. These are decorative ones, set along the length of the strap, and the collar reads as made rather than tough.
For a dog whose owner would rather buy once, and for anyone replacing a nylon collar that has gone grey and smells faintly of pond. Mint against tan is a colour decision rather than a neutral one, so it suits a household with opinions about such things. Measure the neck before choosing a size — twenty-one centimetres is where the range starts.
