What it is
A slim spout and a litre of water, which between them solve the houseplant on the high shelf and the seed tray that resents being drenched. The balance is the point: it tips smoothly rather than gulping. An indoor can, in the sense that it is sized for a windowsill rather than a row of beds.
Galvanised steel with a brass seal. 18 centimetres tall, 31 centimetres across the handle and spout, 11 centimetres deep, and 202 grams empty. One litre in capacity.
A slender spout is what gets water to the soil rather than over the leaves, which is most of the argument for a can shaped like this. Small enough for a windowsill and handsome enough to be left on one.
For houseplants, seed trays and the pots along a kitchen sill, and for anyone currently doing all of it with a mug. It suits a flat with no outdoor space at all. A good present for a new home, where the plants usually arrive before the furniture.
Part of the Sophie Conran range, made by Burgon & Ball.
