What it is
A pillow bed in French blue ticking stripe: flat enough to live in a lounge without looking like pet equipment, deep enough for the full dramatic sigh. The stripe is the quiet end of the pattern spectrum, and it sits beside furniture rather than against it.
Eighty centimetres by sixty, and twenty deep. The inner pad is upholstery grade and pocketed, so the filling stays where it was put rather than drifting to one end. Oxford-style edging runs around the outside, and a YKK zip lets the outer cover come off and go in the machine at thirty degrees.
Made in England. Sizes are nominal and vary a little, as handmade things do.
For the dog who sleeps in whichever room the family is in, and for the person who has learned that a bed you cannot wash is a bed you eventually replace. The cover is the part that gets muddy; it is also the part that comes off. Everything else about it is a cushion, which is all a dog was asking for.
